Background From as early as I can remember, I spent all my free time fishing. Being raised in the country, I had close access to ponds, creeks, and area lakes. As an adult, my professional career was as a research and development technician for such companies as Texas Instruments, Haggar Apparel Company, Abbott Labs, Varo Semiconductor, and Gabriel Enterprises. Analytical thinking and being detailed oriented is a necessity in these positions. I apply these same scientific techniques to my fishing. In 1974, I started making soft plastic baits for bass and crappie fishing. In the late seventies, while working at Texas Instruments, I made hand tied crappie jigs and fished in my spare time. The demand for my jigs was too great for me to keep up. I then started making and selling plastic jigs, eventually having distribution in nine states. In 1983 I sold my company. In 1984 I helped in the development of a live action mechanical bass lure for another company. I spent over 30 years developing my skills, techniques, and knowledge of jig fishing for crappie and other fish species. I fished in Regional Bass Tournaments for a few years. I enjoy the excitement of competitive fishing, but I much prefer being a fishing guide and taking people out so they can catch fish. My greatest joy is passing my knowledge and skills to people with less experience. If I can help someone become a better fisherman, then I have done my job well.
